Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is the best of both worlds.

It is not ‘complementary and alternative,’ it is the professional practice of evidence based medicine that takes into account the entire being and aims for optimum health and wellness.

01

Strive to bring about the balance.

In my opinion, the best way to grasp the concept of Integrative Medicine is to think of it as BRINGING ABOUT BALANCE in order to stimulate the body’s innate healing potential. Integrative practitioners see ‘disease’ as the end point of a system out of balance. This ‘unbalance’ was brought about due to dysfunction in the system.

02

The dysfunction is where Integrative practitioners focus.

The dysfunction can be brought about by many different ‘things’ – diet, stress, environmental toxins, emotional reactions, amongst others. The focus is not only on symptom relief, but finding and reversing the dysfunction that lead to the symptom in the first place.
